Research

My research interests lie broadly in urban music practices after 1900, particularly in the social, political, and cultural history of the jazz diaspora and its distinct representations in the public sphere. I have contributed to over 75 international conferences, either as part of organising or programme committees, as a panel convenor or roundtable convener, as a presenter of individual or joint papers, or as a keynote speaker.

As a Doctoral Visiting Research Fellow at both the University of York’s Music Department and the Faculty of Arts, Design and Media, Birmingham Centre for Media and Cultural Research at Birmingham City University, I have presented in several research seminars. Subsequently, as a Visiting Academic/Guest Lecturer, I deliver papers at various European higher education institutions, including Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), Complutense University of Madrid (Spain), University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Austria), University of Stavanger (Norway) and the Escola Superior de Música e de Artes do Espectáculo (Portugal), among many others in Europe (in-person and remotely) and throughout Brazil (remotely).
