As part of the European Jazz Connective project I took part in an open panel discussion on the Birmingham jazz ecology on 10th March 2020. Also attending were key figures of the local scene including promoters and members of the pioneering Birmingham City University research group. This workshop aimed at interacting with the dynamics of other scenes in Europe. What makes a scene ? How does it evolve and what are the tools to strengthen cooperation?
